MORE INFO ABOUT THE COMMUNITY CUP
Each season The Football League hold the successful 'Community Cup' for boys and
girls under 11's, and girls under 13's. The competition gives more than 20,000
children across the country the opportunity to emulate their football heroes.
All 72 Football League clubs set out to hold a competition within a competition,
to find a winning school to represent their club in the 'Divisional Finals'.
Stockport County Community Foundation, invite all Primary and Secondary schools
in Stockport, High Peak, North Cheshire and Tameside to enter one or two teams
into the 'Local Phase' of the tournament, which is held at The Power League
Football Complex in Heaton Mersey.
Due the large amount of teams entering, we hold the under 11's competition over
the period of a week, with three - four groups on the day competing for the
prize of qualification to the next round. The winners of each group, approx. 12,
then come back for a 'Play-Off Day', where two Stockport County Football Club
players attend to do a 'live FA Cup style' draw, along with posing for photos
and signing a few autographs! The two winners from the 'Play Off Day' then play
in the 'Local Final', which is held at Edgeley Park during half time at a
Stockport County FC League fixture.
The overall winners, kitted out in full Stockport County FC strips, take their
place in the 'Divisional Finals', alongside winners representing Oldham
Athletic, Tranmere Rovers, Leeds United, Huddersfield Town, Carlisle United,
Crewe Alexandra and Hartlepool United.
After the two (North & South) 'Divisional Finals' the winners then get the
chance to play in the 'National Final' at Wembley Stadium, prior to the League
One Play -off Final.
