The Write Match
The Football League, as part of the 'Fans of the Future' initiative, launched a
Junior Reporter Competition earlier in the 2008/09 season, c
hallenging
all 72 Football League Clubs to find a winning entry to represent their club.
The Stockport County Community Foundation, teamed up with the Stockport
Express to launch 'The Write Match' competition, which was open to all our
Junior Supporters and ran from the Peterborough United fixture in December 2008
to the home match versus Walsall. Our winner was Adam Higgins who attends Cale
Green Primary School, with his account of the match v Leyton Orient as follows -

"On a chilly March 14th 2009, 5835 fans turned up at Edgeley Park full of
excitement and anticipation to watch Stockport County v Leyton Orient in a
League One fixture.
The slightly subdued first half saw Orient dominate in terms of chances keeping
County's Welsh number, Owain Fon Williams, on his toes.
After the break County had more procession but failed to use this to their
advantage, then on 52 minutes, Church poked Orient ahead after a scramble in the
goalmouth.
In the dying moments of the game, the impressive Oli Johnson, who I thought
should have been given the Man of the Match, almost pulled it back for County,
but it wasn't to be.
A few moments later, the final whistle blew, and the disappointed County fans
trudged home as the happy bunch of Orient fans began their long journey home
with three points in the bag, following their 1-0 victory.'
By Adam Higgins (10)
Adam was presented with his prizes from The Football League and the Community
Foundation, at the last home match of the season versus Crewe Alexandra, by
Owain Fon Williams and Jason Swapp.
Adam's entry was then sent to the Football League to be judged against other
winners from League One clubs, but unfortunately, wasn't the winning entry we
hoped it would be.
The winners were - (Championship) Reading, (League One) Scunthorpe United,
(League Two) Barnet, who will now be guests of The Football League at Wembley
for the Play Off Finals.
Well Done Adam, and thanks to Andrew Dodd at The Football League.
